The incentive industry winners were selected based on the following criteria: motivational appeal of the product line, customer service and speed of fulfillment, degree of promotional support and customization opportunities.

GiftCard Partners Making Work-Life Balance a Top Priority

Monday, October 6th, 2014

www-award-logo-14-winGiftCard Partners has been honored with the 2014 When Work Works Award for its use of effective workplace strategies to increase business, employee success and work-life balance.

This prestigious award, part of the national When Work Works project administered by the Families and Work Institute (FWI) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), recognizes employers of all sizes and types in the state of Massachusetts and across the country.

“We are thrilled to receive this recognition for our exemplary workplace practices,” said Edward Shulkin, co-CEO of GiftCard Partners. “The commonality within GiftCard Partners is the shared vision of developing and maintaining a work-life balance. Employees are given the flexibility to create a schedule that works for them, the company, and in many cases, their families and still enable them to be active participants in team projects focused on individual and company goals,” states fellow co-CEO, Deborah Merkin.

The award is the result of a rigorous assessment. Worksites must first qualify in the top 20% of the country based on a nationally representative sample of employers. Two-thirds of the evaluation of applicants comes from an employee survey. Applicants are evaluated on six research-based ingredients of an effective workplace: opportunities for learning; a culture of trust; work-life fit; supervisor support for work success; autonomy; and satisfaction with earnings, benefits and opportunities for advancement — all factors associated with employee health, well-being, and engagement.

“The When Work Works Award recognizes organizations that foster a culture of workplace flexibility and effectiveness, which gives them a competitive advantage. Their practices set them apart from other organizations,” – Lisa Horn, director of SHRM’s Workplace Flexibility Initiative.

Are Retailers & Merchants Ready for the Tablet eCommerce Phenomenon?

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011

Are you prepared for total immersion into e-tail? Facts to consider if your answer is NO:

  • 1 in 3 online consumers to use a tablet by 20141
  • The purchase conversion rate is 3% for shoppers using a traditional PC, it is 4% or 5% for shoppers using tablets, says Sucharita Mulpuru, an analyst at Forrester Research.2
  • Many retailers also report that tablet users place bigger orders—in some cases adding 10% to 20% more to the tab—on average than shoppers using PCs or smartphones.2

Although only approximately 50% of the top retailers are accepting gift cards online; we hope that advancements in buying will prompt retailers and merchants to accept their gift cards on line, in order
to capture the growing tablet shopper category. Many more retailers offer eGift Cards to consumers versus B2B, but we also hope that taking these first steps will ease retailers into offering eGift cards along with their plastic option in the B2B arena.

As a retailer, are you taking these interesting tablet user statistics into consideration?

GiftCard Partners is Published in Working Mother Magazine Online

Friday, August 5th, 2011

I recently posted a response and opposing side to a story called “The Myth of Work Life Balance”, which stated that there was no such thing as this balance, that this idea is a pathetic chase and unattainable. Of course, I scathed out my side, practically offended that a woman would advocate “giving up” our journey to work-life balance; it doesn’t exist.

Honestly, I’ve felt a bit unsettled that my attempt at debunking this myth was just one mom’s personal story and perspective and not representative enough of others’ truths. However, my company meeting gives us proof otherwise.
